The National Park Alta Murgia is one of the nation’s most largest ( It has 68.077 h). It extends into thirteen towns This park is identified by two main types of habitat: “ Grasslands on calcareous substrates (Festuca-Brometalia) with a beautiful blooming Orchids” and “ Sub-steppe ways with grass family and annual plants (Thero-Brachypodietea)".
This wonderful place has rocks, dolines, hills, swallow-holes, karstic hollows, abrupt slopes, swamps, large natural pastures or field crops, oak or coniferous woods here, humans have built stone farms (“Masserie”) to defend themselves, from raiders; these buildings have animal stalls and stockyards, water tanks, churches and many particular dry stone walls.
