Monuments Colosso (detto Eraclio)

Immagine di Colosso (detto Eraclio)

Along the old street of Barletta rises the so-called colossus of Eraclio, a 4,5 m. high bronze statue probably representing the emperor Theodosius II. The statue was restored many times and honoured the town with its presence since the middle ages. The man, who appears to be about forty years old, is wearing late roman and byzantine imperial robes and bears the symbols of royalty: the crown, the cross in his right hand and the sphere in his left hand.
