It was the seat of the municipality of Fasano for nearly two centuries (‘700 and ‘800). On the top of the building towers the clock tower.
Professor Antonietta Latorre, historian of local history, found a parchment with the ancient emblem of Fasano in the Historical Archieve of Putignano. The municipality of Fasano commissioned a flag with that emblem painted on it and now the flag is waving on the Palazzo dell’Orologio (the Clock Building). The ancient emblem belongs to the sixteenth century and is composed of a dark blue Samnitic shield to which two ribbons are linked; at the centre of the shield there is an ochre woodpigeon from which the name “Faso” originated.
